There are 2 different models of the Solatube product, which are the DS and DSe model.
The DSe model has 2 pieces of clear plexiglass that are separated by a “S” clip. The 2 discs are clear, but are covered with a protective film until they are ready to be installed!
This piece is then inserted into the center of the Solatube and turned to lay flat inside the tube to help slow down energy loss out the tube.
Depending on your location, it could help with heat loss in the winter if your in Maine, Maryland,etc and help with cooling loss if you live in south such as Florida, Alabama, Texas, Arizona to name a few of the states.
The eChoice piece is recommended for installations in very northern climates such as Canada, and northern parts of the United States such as Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, etc.
Customers farther south can purchase the eChoice kit if they desire, but it’s not necessary.

Since the eChoice piece is clear, you don’t lose any of the light entering the tube, only increase energy efficiency. The eChoice piece is available for both the 10 & 14 inch Solatube Daylighting models.
